A calmer web starts with clearer content
A useful website does not need to shout. Clear headings, comfortable reading space and a few well-chosen links can make the difference between a page that feels busy and one that feels inviting.
Start with the reader
Before choosing colours or arranging a layout, ask what someone came to do. Read an article? Find an answer? Explore an idea? Give that task a clear place on the page.
Good design leaves enough room for the content to do its work.
Three small improvements
- Make the first heading count. Describe the page in language a reader recognises.
- Keep paragraphs comfortable. Short sections and clear subheadings help people find their place.
- Choose the next step. A useful link is better than a page full of competing buttons.
Keep the details consistent
Use a small palette, repeat spacing deliberately and give links a recognisable style. Consistency makes a site easier to explore and easier to maintain.
